Lamar Davis Mathews is a serial entrepreneur who has started, built and sold businesses in the following categories: employment agency, healthcare imaging services, manufacturing and banking. She served for 10 years on the board of a local Houston bank, Independence Bank, until it was sold to Allegiance Bank.
Currently, in addition to overseeing various investments for limited partnerships and foundations, she consults for client companies advising in the areas of marketing and sales, strategic planning, and operations, with an emphasis on the highest and best deployment of human resources.
She is a co-founder and leader of nCourage, an angel investment group for women led/owned entrepreneurial ventures. nCourage participates in judging the Rice Business Plan Competition annually, giving an investment prize to women led teams.
She is married and lives in the Houston Heights. Hobbies include historic preservation, art, and travel.
