Joseph joined MedImmune Ventures in 2006 as the first full-time venture employee. In 2008 he was promoted to senior managing director with the role of managing the venture team, reporting directly to the CEO of MedImmune. Joseph came to MedImmune Ventures from Carrot Capital (CCHV) where he was responsible for deal sourcing and had operational roles within CCHV’s portfolio companies. Previously, Joseph completed an internship in internal medicine at both New YorkPresbyterian Hospital and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. During his MD-PhD training, Joseph was an independent consultant to Arch Venture Partners. He earned his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from the University of Pennsylvania, and received both a doctorate in immunology and a medical degree from Cornell University’s Weill Medical College. He also had postgraduate training from the Brigham and Womens’ Hospital and Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and has been published in top-tier, peer-reviewed journals focused on immunology and infectious disease. Joseph currently sits on the boards of Synovex, NKT Therapeutics, and Rib-X Pharmaceuticals. He is a board observer of Ambit, Elusys, Virdante, and VLST.
