Bringing more than a decade of research experience and technical expertise in the life sciences sector, Jayson is responsible for evaluating investment opportunities, performing due diligence and monitoring portfolio positions.

Jayson joined Pappas Ventures in 2011 as an intern, while in business school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While in business school, Jayson was co-manager for the Kenan-Flagler Private Equity Fund, a student-run fund with approximately $5 million in assets under management. Prior to pursuing his MBA, Jayson was a postdoctoral research associate at UNC-Chapel Hill. During his post-doc, he also worked at the Office of Technology Development at UNC-Chapel Hill, where he developed and executed commercialization and licensing strategies for life science technologies. He has authored eight peer-reviewed publications and was awarded National Institutes of Health (NIH) pre- and post-doctoral fellowships.

Jayson’s deep background as a research scientist enables him to identify strong opportunities, evaluate the risks and work with entrepreneurs to find success.
