Hey, wait a sec, if someone clicks through, it blows the anonymity! Correct and on purpose. Code names are for fun and are not an integral part of the competition. We experimented with no code names in 2020 to facilitate more transparent networking. Afterwards, we surveyed teams and judges, and both had a slight preference to keep code names. So, they are here but easy to decode if someone wants to know who you are.

The entire event is in Bell Hall and the McColl building of UNC Kenan-Flagler. As you arrive, plenty of of signs will point you where to go. 300 Kenan Center Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27599
Your team should fly in and out of RDU, Raleigh-Durham International, about 30 minutes from Chapel Hill, and a $35-50 Uber ride. Plan to depart on Sunday to take advantage of Saturday night networking.
Any hotel with 4+ rating within 7 miles will be fine. To be closer is often much more expensive. Google search for hotels within 10 miles.
We have a courtesy VCIC Block at Residence Inn, king suite includes sofa bed and breakfast, $131, book by 3/20 (will likely sell out early).
Undergraduates: We have a courtesy block for Friday and Saturday nights only at our fancy UNC Rizzo Executive Conference Center, double queen, breakfast buffet included, free shuttle to campus, $239/night, book by 3/13. On the rate, book it for 2 people to get that rate, and then email vcic@unc.edu to add people for no additional cost. They do not have any rooms Thursday night.
Many teams report that a house on Airbnb is the best way to go so that the team can work together.
WeWEUBER/CAB is preferred as we have limited parking. But WARNING: there will be a surge at 8AM. From your hotel, you should pre-schedule a ride or leave 30 minutes early to get to campus! Chapel Hill is a small town easily overwhelmed.
PARKING: Email PV if you will be renting a car and need a precious parking pass.
Event Logistics
Nearly identical to your region. Slight differences will be communicated to all in advance.
MBAs will have 2 tracks on Friday, each running just like a region. The top 3 teams from each track will get new pitch decks around 6PM to do it all again on Saturday.
Undergraduates will be divided into two tracks of 5 teams for the morning. The top 3 teams in each track will proceed to the partner meetings.
Any team not proceeding is welcome to observe.
We will print all deliverables for judges. Please do not bring anything to hand to judges or founders.
We will have a shared printer available for you to print your own notes, but again, please do not hand things to founders or judges. It’s distracting.
Dress like a VC but also make sure to layer, as temperatures in classrooms and study rooms can fluctuate.
Note, Chapel Hill will be in bloom! It’s pollen season. Bring allergy medicine if you are sensitive.
We’ll have breakfast, lunch, and a reception for you during the competition.
Please bring a water bottle. We have refilling stations.
